NYC ROCKS!

I have been fortunate enough to visit many large cities through out the world; London, Paris, Rome, New Delhi, Los Angeles, and of course, San Francisco. Each city has a unique flavor, obviously. When Dee Dee and I started planning our trip to New York City , I had the expectation that I was visiting another large city...and maybe I’d be amazed by the unique architecture and HUGE buildings. However, my expectations were blown away. In short, New York ROCKS! On top of the many things to do and see, the city is clean…and least in the areas that we saw! Bring good shoes and be prepared to walk…the legs are the easiest form of transportation. The best time to go is either early Spring when it’s not overwhelmingly HOT or in the Fall just before the snow.

Dee Dee and I visited over Memorial Day weekend, May 24 – May 28, 2007. We flew out on a Thursday and flew home that Monday evening giving us four days in Manhattan. Four days, we think, is the minimum time on the ground to experience the major sites and boroughs…but even four days is too short. I think the only way to REALLY digest New York is to live there…the energy is amazing.

The key to visiting any city is to arrive with a game plan…this is especially true with New York where there is a TON to see. Check out this city overview we found to get a feeling for the city layout and the many great things to see. The second “key” is make sure you stay in a central location near a subway stop. The subway makes all of Manhattan accessible…but save yourself a walk by staying near the subway if possible. We stayed at The Park hotel on 38th and Park in the Murray Hill area which is in Mid-Town. Murray Hill is near Grand Central station…we had the ULTIMATE subway two blocks north of the hotel!

The following four blogs provide a brief overview of all the sites that we saw, a few tips of places, restaurants and clubs that we found through personal recommendations and travel tips. If you want more detail please email us and we'll fill you in.
