We got up at 7:30am to go snorkeling at two areas known to have great snorkeling in Maui, Kapalua Bay and Black Rock. Unfortunately, the tides were too strong and waves were to rough at Kapalua. We continued on to Black Rock at the Sheraton in Kaanapali. We got into the water there and had beat the crowds…at 9:00am very few people were around. Unfortunately, visability was very low with all the sand being kick up off the floor…we saw some fish but it was very murky.
Later that afternoon, we shopped in the Whalers Village in Kaanapali…which is nothing but a tourist shopping area. We’d recommend parking here to snorkel at Black Rock and to spend no more than two hours there doing light shopping and eating.
We had a plate lunch at Aloha Mixed Plate which is right next door to the XXX snorkel shop. We recommend going here for great Hawaiian food that’s under $10 a plate. We recommend getting the Hawaii plate which consists of pulled pork, rice and Poi…a local vegetable made from the Tarot root. Another good choice is the coconut shrimp as either an appetizer or entrĂ©e.
We went to a great magic show in Lahaina that night called Warren and Annabelles. This is a great, small theater magic show combining stand up comedy and magic tricks. The magic and illusions were great! The magician pulled a $100 bill from the audience and burned it…for it only to appear later in a hotdog. Dee Dee and I are still trying to figure this out. Go see it…it’s a lot of fun…go check this out.
Afterwards we went to Kimo’s…which is a GREAT place to watch the sunset and have dinner. Get there by 5:00pm to get a table near the water. We got there at 9:30pm when the place was winding down…so we just had a Hula Pie and coffee.
